NEVŞEHİR ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The Nevşehir Artist-in-Residence Program took place between September 28 and October 5, 2019. Aydın Teker was the conducting artist-in-residence, while Pınar Özer, Fırat Kuşçu and M. Metehan Kayan, who were selected as a result of the open call were the participating artists-in-residence. Artists from Nevşehir Gamze Güleç, Yağmur Telli Yücel, Can Sümbül and Fatih Çankaya also made various contributions to the process. Musician Nick Rothwell was the guest artist who participated from London and designed the sound for the program.

Throughout the process, artists from different disciplines, working from early morning to late at night, prepared a performance called “Tozuntu” within a week which was designed to be performed in the cave at the entrance of Ortahisar Castle. Posters and flyers of the performance were distributed in the districts of Avanos and Ortahisar. Ortahisar Municipality made audio announcements of the performance for three days. In the cave at the entrance of Ortahisar Castle, an audience of seventy people from Nevşehir watched the public space performance exhibited on October 4 with great interest.
